Finding my voice

I started thiKapa'a_Kalepa Ridge_Donald_26 July 2004s website with several goals and objectives in mind, though most of them were rather vague at the time. My ambition is to become a freelance Graphic Designer, Web Developer, and Software Guru (though in passing I should mention that I hate the term Guru, but I can’t think of a better word at the moment). Despite the shake up of my personal life, that ambition remains strong. While I’m still doing a lot of work on getting things in order, I’ve made a lot of progress in getting this site setup the way I want it. Now that I’m becoming more and more familiar with Worpress, I’ve got an itch to put together an EVEN BETTER site design. While I’m entertaining ideas about the future, I’ve got to avoid scratching that itch too much or nothing will actually get done. A well thought-out design is important, but there comes a time when you need to stop designing and start building.

Which brings me back to this. I’ve decided that while I will be making personal journal entries here from time to time, most of my personal stuff I’m going to put through Facebook and Twitter. I want the focus of this blog to be on topics of interest to my chosen vocation and hobbies (ie Graphic Design, Software Development, all things Geeky, Lego, and Sci-Fi). It is my goal to publish on these topics  at least twice a week. A lot of my content will likely be my own commentary on other blogs and news articles at first, but who knows.

The iPhone is the New Cigarette

I ran across this article  a couple of weeks ago shortly after I got my own iPhone.  At first I thought the essay merely amusing, but as I’ve started to observe my own behavior patterns shift with my iPhone usage, and as I’ve noticed how quickly I’ve become dependent on it,  the points Abie makes hit very close to home.  Now excuse me while I go check my email on the precious.
