New Job, new outlook

I started a new job this week. I’m now working as a full-time Web Designer for Overstock.com. I’m very excited, things have been going well so far, and I think I’ll fit in very well.

Looking forward to seeing my sister and her family when they come out from California this weekend. I finally get to meet my niece Lucy for the first time.

I’ve signed up on eHarmony recently, trying to meet new people.  There seem to be a lot of prospects, but I don’t want to rush into anything. Relationships are always a tricky business.

Knee Injuries, Dating, and Job Offers

Greetings. I realize that I don’t have much in the way of readership, but to whomever might be reading I hope all is well.

I injured my knee a week ago (actually re-injured, but that’s another story). The irony being that I had been making good progress in getting back to the gym, and I injure myself in such a way that I have to stay off my feet for at least a week. I’m hoping to start getting back to the gym tomorrow, maybe even later tonight if I don’t over do it.

I had a date on Friday with a girl I’ve recently met. I think it went well, and the next day I asked her out again, but I’ve yet to hear back from her. So maybe it didn’t go as well as I thought.

In the way of good news, I recently got a job offer for a full-time Web Developer/Designer position. I put in my two weeks notice at my current job, and I’ll be starting my new job after Labor Day.

Self Evaluation

One of the biggest problems I’ve been having during my search for a new job, is that while I have a rather broad range of experience across a host of computer and technical skills. The depth of experience on any one given skill can vary anywhere from passingly familiar, to expert. Another hurdle is that that some of the skills I’m most experienced with, I’m experienced enough to know how much I don’t know. Which makes me feel a little foolish to claim to be an expert on any topic.

Long time, no Blog…

It has been a couple of months now since my last blog entry. The main reason for that is that things have been going pretty well for my lately.  In some respects it is easier to blog when times are tough, since then I have something to complain about, and it gives me an excuse to let my whiny emo side out. When things a going well I don’t usually feel like flaunting it.

So, yeah… Things have been going well. I’ve been doing a lot of fun things at my new job with SRS Inc. My official job title is UI Engineer, Web Developer and CSS Expert. I’m not exactly sure how much of my work I can can blog about due to NDA, but I will say that this is the best job I’ve ever had. I’ve been having fun flexing my design muscles, and also learning some new skills.
